Hello Everyone,

Fellow candidate Bryan Moore spoke with the owners of Randall Roadhouse and has scheduled an informal Meet & Greet for Thursday, March 28th from 6 – 8PM.

Please feel free to stop by, grab something to eat/drink and find out more about the candidates who hope to represent you on the Village Board for the next four years.  This is a perfect opportunity to learn more about us in a great setting with a fantastic menu.  I hope you can attend.

Board Meeting Recap – March 20, 2013

Hello All,

With the lion’s share of staff time being devoted to finalizing next fiscal year’s budget, we had another light agenda for the board meeting.  I expect the agendas to start picking up again at the next meeting (April 2nd) when the FY 2014 budget will be discussed and voted on.

No new business was introduced this time, however we did have some interesting items on the consent agenda.  First was a final ordinance Read more of this post

Endorsed by the Daily Herald

Hello Everyone,

I have been endorsed by the Daily Herald.  I am happy to see that the Herald agrees with my emphasis on tax relief for residents and positive vision for the future of Carpentersville.

The article can be found here:

I also agree with the Herald’s other two endorsements: Patricia Schultz and Virginia Stevens.  I am currently serving on the Village Board with Pat.  Her and I were the only two board members to vote against the latest property tax increase.  She is also extremely involved in beautifying the village with her work on the Parks commission.

Similarly, Virginia is also heavily involved in making the village a better place.  She has served on the Parks commission for several years now and up until a couple weeks ago, was the only resident consistently attending both Board and Audit & Finance meetings.

One other qualified candidate, Bryan Moore, has management experience and appears to be interested in improving the village.  I haven’t personally had much interaction with Bryan so I can’t extend an endorsement of him at this time.  Voters will have some quality choices for this election, although I still wish there were more candidates running for the village board.  Competition brings out the best in everyone and can only benefit the village.

Audit & Finance Meeting Recap – March 7, 2013

Hello Everyone,

Budget season is in full gear, and this 5+ hour meeting was certainly proof of that.  This meeting featured the budget presentation from Public Works Director Bob Cole.  He spent hours outlining all of the previous year’s achievements, goals for the upcoming year as well as the new budget requests which ran the spectrum from personnel and playground equipment to new sludge presses for the wastewater treatment facility.

I single out those two items among the dozens that were discussed for good reason.  One is to Read more of this post

Board Meeting Recap – March 5, 2013

Hello All,

With upwards of 10″s of snow, the weather did not cooperate with the most recent village board meeting.  As a result, our only presentation on the agenda, by the mountain biking group CAMBr, was postponed.  Mike Angus was slated to give us an update on the Raceway Woods mountain bike trail enhancement, which his group has developed as a 100% volunteer project.

Besides that, we had some great news coming from the consent agenda.  The new owners of the Read more of this post

Great Week

Hello All,

Between a business trip to NYC, campaign planning/preparation and family time this was a busy week, but for the first time in over two years I had the chance to do some fishing.  My friends and I have been going on this particular fishing trip for 14 years.  It’s only one day of fishing, but it gives us a great chance to catch up.  We landed over 40 browns and rainbows, saw an eagle, several pheasants and even saw signs of river otter activity (a first for this stream).

Here’s a picture I snapped of the stream that really captures the beauty of the experience which serves as an annual reminder that spring is right around the corner.  It doesn’t hurt that there are 20″ trout hidden in that water either.  Enjoy!

Audit & Finance Meeting Recap – February 21, 2013

Hi All,

Budget season is well underway.  This meeting of the Audit & Finance committee included budget presentations by both Police and Fire departments.  For those who are unfamiliar with how the village budget is constructed – the A&F committee hears Read more of this post
